Poker is a card game where the goal is to win by collecting more chips than your opponents. To do so, you need to have at least one pair. A pair is a pair of cards with the same rank. Pairs are also known as pair poker hands. When two pairs are compared, the higher pair wins. For example, a pair of jacks beats a pair of tens.

Poker has many variations. Some games have fewer than five cards, such as Three-Card Monte or Spit-in-the-Ocean. In general, however, the game is played with five or more players. If more than five people play, two separate games can be organized. Some games have a higher value than others, such as a straight flush.

A player who has a good hand should be respectful towards the dealer. Players should remember that they are not in control of the outcome of the game, and arguing with the dealer won’t help anyone. Moreover, dealers are human and make mistakes. If you notice a mistake, politely explain to the dealer and ask him or her to fix it. If the dealer cannot correct the error, call the floorman.

When all players have a winning hand, all but one player folds. In such cases, the remaining player collects the pot without revealing their hand. If more than one player is left in the game, the final betting round is called a showdown. In this stage, the winning hand is revealed to the rest of the players.
