Casino Movie Review

Casino

A casino is a place where games of chance can be played. In addition, a casino offers other attractions, such as restaurants and stage shows. Casinos have historically been places of luxury, but there have also been less extravagant establishments that house gambling activities.

Whether they are playing blackjack, poker or slot machines, the people who enter casinos are usually there to have fun. There are plenty of laughs, clinks of coins and music blaring that add to the atmosphere. Although some people may tut when the cards don’t go their way, most of them are happy to be there and feel a rush when they win. Gambling has several benefits, including socialization and boosting cognitive function.

While other movies only scratch the surface of Vegas’ past ties to organized crime, Scorsese dives deep into the world of casino culture and opulence in his epic film Casino. The movie is a wild ride that explores the dark underbelly of Vegas, but still manages to highlight its neon lights and glitzy entertainment options.

Robert De Niro plays Sam “Ace” Rothstein, a gambler with a worldview that seems at odds with his status as Sin City’s reigning high roller. In one of the film’s most memorable sequences, a torture-by-vice scene replete with popped eyeballs and a sound-designed baseball bat beating, Scorsese demonstrates his penchant for shocking violence without going overboard. Yet Casino is also a portrait of a man who has a firm grasp on his own sense of ethics and morality.
